Traditions Photography is family owned and operated. Eileen (that would be me) graduated from Saint Mary’s College and Michael (my husband) graduated from the University of Notre Dame. So that means South Bend, Granger, Elkhart, Michigan, and all of the other surrounding areas are very close to our hearts. Everyone called me a shutter-bug when I was growing up – even when I was five! In a seven month span while studying in Rome, Italy, I took seventy, yes SEVENTY, rolls of film. (I’m sure it would be TONS more now that I’m shooting digital!) At that point, I started thinking that photography might be the career for me. When our son Jacob was born, I quit my (photography) job, began working from home, and love it so much that I couldn’t keep it from growing.
Now we have Penelope, who came to the studio with me for her first three months of life, and another little miracle on the way. Jacob is a wonderful big brother! He can’t wait for the baby to arrive, and is really really hoping for a little brother. (I don’t blame him! Penelope is a pistol sometimes!) Contrary to popular belief, Michael does not work at the studio. He is an 8th grade math teacher at Berrien Springs Middle School. (I still can’t imagine – 8th graders all day AND math! Seesh! He MUST love his job!) You’ll see him at the studio during the summer or perhaps in the evenings (or on snow days)!
So, here we are on Douglas Road in South Bend, by UP Mall. We have 1,800 square feet of studio space. We’re very proud of where we’ve come in the last five years. (I still can’t believe it’s been that long!) Currently, I am the only photographer. I have studied under internationally award winning photographers of today’s industry. I like to keep the studio focused on the quality of work we give our clients, and not the quantity of sessions we can jam into a week. I LOVE taking portraits of children! And what makes all of us really happy are all the compliments we get about truly “capturing” a child’s personality. Thank you for letting our family serve yours. It’s our honor, and our pleasure!
